Abu Dhabi

His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Ain Region, has reviewed the latest updates and progress on housing projects being implemented by the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority in Al Ain Region, in collaboration with its strategic partners. The review formed part of His Highness’s ongoing follow-up on efforts to develop residential communities that meet citizens’ needs and enhance their quality of life and family stability.

The announcement will support UAE manufacturers and suppliers, strengthen local supply chains, contribute to the growth of the industrial sector and economic diversification, and enable the delivery of sustainable and cost-efficient housing projects through competitive local production.

This announcement comes as part of the ongoing collaboration between both entities to develop and implement initiatives that support Abu Dhabi’s long-term development priorities. It also contributes to enhancing coordination between government entities, increasing the contribution of the local industrial sector to major projects, and supporting the delivery of high-quality housing that meets the needs of citizens and communities across the emirate.

On this occasion, His Excellency Eng. Maysarah Mahmoud Eid, Director General of Abu Dhabi Projects and Infrastructure Centre, said: “Our collaboration with ADHA represents a significant step towards strengthening the role of local industry within Abu Dhabi’s project development ecosystem. By working towards sourcing 80% of building materials locally, we are empowering UAE manufacturers, enhancing supply chain resilience, and ensuring the continued delivery of infrastructure projects in line with the highest standards of quality.”

He added: “At ADPIC, we remain committed to adopting a more integrated, efficient, and resilient approach to capital project delivery. This memorandum supports our role in overseeing, supervising, and monitoring projects across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.”

His Excellency Hamad Hareb Al Muhairi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, said: “Adopting local sourcing within supply chains for housing projects is not merely a complementary option, but a strategic pillar that forms the foundation for building a more resilient and sustainable ecosystem. It enhances supply chain flexibility, mitigates risks, and reduces reliance on external sources, ensuring continuity in project delivery and development with efficiency and confidence.”

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding builds on the existing collaboration between ADPIC and ADHA in delivering major residential communities, including the residential neighbourhoods recently announced for citizens. Under the MoU, both entities will work together to increase the use of UAE-manufactured building materials, support local manufacturers and suppliers, streamline procurement procedures, and enable the delivery of housing projects with greater efficiency and sustainability in line with approved standards.

The Memorandum of Understanding reinforces Abu Dhabi’s commitment to increasing the contribution of national industries to strategic initiatives and projects, strengthening the competitiveness of the local manufacturing sector, supporting the UAE’s economic diversification agenda, and enhancing the role of the industrial sector in driving sustainable development.
